  • Description
  • The Rhinopias is only of the most sought after of all the Scorpionfish. They are just so beautiful and are very rarely collected. Rhinopias can be various colors and shades of colors but purples and reds are most common.

Rhinopias reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Rhinopias are semi-aggressive fish and shouldn't be kept with smaller fish and some inverts. Rhinopias will eat any fish that they can fit in their mouths. They are rather docile though, so they shouldn't be kept with more aggressive larger fish that might bother them.

Rhinopias tend to do best in slightly cooler water tanks as well. Rhinopias will spend most of their time on the sand bed or mixing in with the rockwork or coral waiting for their prey to swim by. Rhinopias are venomous and should only be handled with extreme caution.

Rhinopias are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Sometimes Rhinopias will take a long time to get used to eating prepared foods. In these cases it is advised to feed live foods to get them used to life in an aquarium. Once used to prepared foods, Rhinopias will do best with foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as small pieces of fresh seafood.
