  • Description
  • The Candy Cane Squirrelfish is a very bright and vibrant squirrelfish. Candy Cane Squirrelfish have a mostly bright red body with strong horizontal white stripes.

Candy Cane Squirrelfish reach a maximum adult size of around 7 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Candy Cane Squirrelfish are mostly peaceful fish and should get along with most other fish and coral. Candy Cane Squirrelfish can be kept in smaller groups in large aquariums as well. Candy Cane Squirrelfish will eat some inverts like starfish, so you need to proceed with caution if you want to keep one in a reef tank.

Candy Cane Squirrelfish do well in tanks with lots of live rock. Candy Cane Squirrelfish are nocturnal fish and during the day they will want to hide in the live rock. They will then come out at night and look for small inverts to eat in the rock work.

Candy Cane Squirrelfish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as small chunks of fresh seafood will keep your Candy Cane Squirrelfish healthy and happy. Candy Cane Squirrelfish can be hard to getting eating when new to aquarium life, so live foods can be used to entice them to eat.
