The Powder Brown Tang is a very active and stunning surgeonfish. Powder Brown Tangs have a round body that is mostly brown with a black fins and strong yellow and red markings.

Powder Brown Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 8 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 90 gallons in size. Powder Brown Tangs do best with in larger long tanks with plenty of open swimming room. Powder Brown Tangs are mostly peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes them a great choice for reef tanks.

Powder Brown Tangs can be aggressive to other tangs, especially those in the Acanthurus family. To help reduce aggression between tangs, try to introduce them all at the same time and make sure that there is plenty of algae for them to graze on. Powder Brown Tangs are also very susceptible to diseases like marine ich. Quarantining a Powder Brown Tang is pretty much necessary. Feeding them garlic and selcon in their food as well as keeping stress down will help a Powder Brown Tang fight off disease.

Powder Brown Tangs are herbivores and require a diet that is rich in green foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods, high quality frozen foods and mysis and brine shrimp will keep your Powder Brown Tang healthy and happy.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Powder Brown Tang and if it's the right fish for your tank.
