  • Description
  • The White Tail Yellow Eye Tang is a very rare and extremely beautiful surgeonfish. White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs have a mostly bright red body with a snow white tail. They also have various white spots on their faces and a yellow eye.

White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 75 gallons in size. White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs are strong swimmers and will benefit more from longer tanks with more un-obstructive swimming room. White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs are one of the few tang species that do well in smaller tanks as well.

White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs are pretty much peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tanks. This makes them a great addition to reef tanks. White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs can be aggressive towards other tangs though, especially those in the Ctenochaetus family. To try to reduce aggression between tangs, try to introduce them all at the same time and make sure that there is plenty of algae for them to graze on.

White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs are excellent rock cleaners and will take care of many different types of nuisance algae found on your rocks. White Tail Yellow Eye Tangs are herbivores and require a diet that is rich in green foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods and mysis and brine shrimp will keep your White Tail Yellow Eye Tang healthy and happy.
