  • The Bluehead Tilefish is a stunning and very active reef fish. Bluehead Tilefish have a mostly white body with a deep blue head and bright yellow tail.

    Bluehead Tilefish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Bluehead Tilefish are strong jumpers and should only be kept in tanks that have a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked. Bluehead Tilefish are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother many other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. For this reason, the Bluehead Tilefish is a great fish to add to your reef tank.

    If introduced at the same time, multiple Bluehead Tilefish can be kept together in larger tanks. Bluehead Tilefish should really be kept in tanks with lots of sand and live rock in them. Bluehead Tilefish will burrow in the sand and will pick at small inverts off of the live rock between feedings. Bluehead Tilefish will also take shelter in the rockwork if they feel threatened.

    Bluehead Tilefish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Bluehead Tilefish healthy and happy.
