  • Description
  • The Choat's Red Leopard Wrasse is a very colorful and plain stunning variant of the leopard wrasse. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses have a mostly white body with strong red markings over their whole body. Male Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses have a more colorful face with blue and yellow markings.

Choat's Red Leopard Wrasse reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept tanks that are at least 55 gallons. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses are strong jumpers and need to be kept in tanks with a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses are peaceful fish that should get along with other fish, coral and inverts in your tank. This makes them a great fish for reef tanks.

Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses do not adapt well to life in captivity, so only expert aquarists should attempt to keep them. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses do well in pairs or small groups of all females or one male with multiple females. Male Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses are aggressive towards other males. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses have to be kept in tanks with lots of live rock and sand. Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses will spend the entire day picking at small inverts off of the live rock and will burrow in the sand at night.

Choat's Red Leopard Wrasses are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality pellet and flake foods will keep your Choat's Red Leopard Wrasse healthy and happy. Having a refugium attached to your system will also make sure that your Choat's Red Leopard Wrasse has lots of live food to eat as well.
