The Green Bird Wrasse is a large and very stunning wrasse. Green Bird Wrasses have a long beak like nose that helps them find prey in the tightest of areas. Green Bird Wrasses have a completely deep green body. Males are green and females are tan and brown and called Brown Bird Wrasses.

Green Bird Wrasses reach a maximum size of around 11 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Green Bird Wrasses are extremely strong jumpers, so it is important that you keep them in a tank that has a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump through. Green Bird Wrasses are aggressive fish and should only be kept with other larger aggressive fish. Green Bird Wrasses aren’t the best choice for reef tanks, since they will bother smaller fish and also eat any inverts they can find.

Green Bird Wrasses can only be kept in a male female pair. Normally it’s a better idea to introduce the female to the tank first. Green Bird Wrasses are carnivores and require a diet of meaty foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods, high quality flake and pellet foods as well as small pieces of fresh seafood.

Please feel free to contact us at any time if you have any questions about the Green Bird Wrasse and if it’s the right wrasse for your tank.
