  • Description
  • The Half and Half Wrasse is a very rarely seen and hard to care for wrasse. Half and Half Wrasses start life as a black and white fish with the front half of its body being white and the rear half being black. As they mature the Half and Half Wrasse turns into a mostly green fish with orange markings on its face.

    Half and Half Wrasses reach a maximum adult size of around 30 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 240 gallons. Half and Half Wrasses are semi-aggressive and might bother smaller fish and other species of wrasses. They will also eat inverts they find in the tank. Half and Half Wrasses eat coral in nature, so they make a bad choice for reef tanks.

    Half and Half Wrasses are hard to keep in aquariums do to how they normally do not accept prepared foods. In the wild the Half and Half Wrasse will eat coral and also small inverts found in the rock and sand. They are carnivores and have been taught to eat prepared foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as small chunks of fresh seafood.
