  • Description
  • The Red Coris Wrasse is a stunning and colorful large wrasse. Red Coris Wrasse start life as a mostly orange fish with white spots outlined in black. As the Red Coris Wrasse ages it gets a yellow tail and more of a yellow body with blue spots and green stripes.

Red Coris Wrasses reach a maximum adult size of around 16 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Red Coris Wrasses are mostly peaceful when juveniles but tend to get meaner and meaner as they age. Small Red Coris Wrasses should be able to be kept in reef aquariums, but large Red Coris Wrasses will go after small fish and inverts.

Red Coris Wrasses are extremely strong jumpers and require a tank that has a tight fitting lid with no holes big enough for them to jump through if they get spooked. Red Coris Wrasses also require plenty of live rock and sand in a tank. Red Coris Wrasses will constantly pick at the live rock for small inverts to eat and hide in it if they feel threatened. Red Coris Wrasses also require a sand bed to burrow in.

Red Coris Wrasses are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, small chunks for fresh seafood, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Red Coris Wrasse healthy and thriving.
