  • Description
  • The Twelve Line Wrasse is a stunning and very useful wrasse. Twelve Line Wrasses have a mostly red body with strong orange and blue hues. Twelve Line Wrasses also have a set of four strong blueish white horizontal stripes going down their bodies.

Twelve Line Wrasses reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Twelve Line Wrasses are strong jumpers and should only be kept in tanks with a tight fitting hood with no holes large enough for them to jump through if spooked. Twelve Line Wrasses are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. For this reason the Twelve Line Wrasse is a great fish to add to a reef tank.

Twelve Line Wrasse can be aggressive to other similar wrasses in smaller aquariums, so please take this into consideration when adding a Twelve Line Wrasse to a smaller tank heavily populated with other wrasses. Twelve Line Wrasses do a great job of eating some problem inverts like pyramidellid snailes and flatworms as well. Twelve Line Wrasses will do best in tanks with lots of live rock and a sand bed as well. Twelve Line Wrasses will pick at small inverts off of the rocks between feedings and also burrow in the sand from time to time.

Twelve Line Wrasses are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality pellet and flake foods should keep your Twelve Line Wrasse healthy and happy.
