  • Description
  • The Pom Pom Crab is a truly unique and interesting crab. This small crab will carry a tiny anemone in each hand and use them to ward potential attackers. When the Pom Pom Crab raises its anemones it resembles a cheering cheerlead, hence its name.

Pom Pom Crabs reach a maximum size of around 1 inch and can be kept in tanks as well as 10 gallons. They are mostly peaceful crabs and will not bother other inhabitants of your tank. The anemone that the Pom Pom Crab carries can sting some other anemones, inverts and fish though. Otherwise Pom Pom Crabs are considered reef safe.

Pom Pom Crabs have a mostly red body with various dark stripes on their legs. Multiple Pom Pom Crabs can easily be kept together without aggression problems as well. Pom Pom Crabs are also great members of your tank’s cleanup crew, since they will pick up and eat any leftover food they can find in the substrate or in the rocks.

Pom Pom Crabs are omnivores and require a diet both rich in meaty and green foods. Foods such as pieces of mysis shrimp, tiny chunks of fresh seafood, high quality frozen foods and high quality pellet and flake foods can supplement your Pom Pom Crabs diet.
