  • Description
  • Reef Hermit Crabs are one of the most useful of all the crabs you can add to your tank. Reef Hermit Crabs come in a variety of colors as well, and most will stay rather peaceful in a reef tank.

In general Reef Hermit Crabs only grow to about 2 inches in size. They can be kept in tanks as small as 10 gallons and are very hardy. This makes them a great crab for beginners. As Reef Hermit Crabs get larger they will start to look for larger shells to move into. For the most part, Reef Hermit Crabs will attack and kill snails to take their shell. Apart from that, Reef Hermit Crabs are peaceful inverts.

Reef Hermit Crabs are incredibly useful in your tank. They will constantly walk around the tank looking for leftover food to eat. Reef Hermit Crabs are truly the janitor of reef tanks.

Reef Hermit Crabs are omnivores and will eat just about anything they can find in your tank. If there isn’t enough food for a Reef Hermit Crab, you can supplement their diet with some marine algae.
