  • Description
  • The Electric Flame Scallop is a stunning and brightly colored scallop. Electric Flame Scallops have fire red mantles and tentacles.

Electric Flame Scallops reach a maximum size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 20 gallons in size. Electric Flame Scallops are peaceful and should not bother other inverts, coral or fish in your tank. This makes the Electric Flame Scallop a great addition to reef tanks.

Electric Flame Scallops should not be kept in tanks with overly aggressive fish that eat inverts like triggers and puffers. Electric Flame Scallops will often wedge themselves in the rock work or in the substrate just leaving their tentacles and mantle exposed. Electric Flame Scallops need to have perfect water conditions and need to also have trace elements added back into the tank via water changes or by dosing.

Electric Flame Scallops require foods like micro-plankton and phytoplankton to survive. Electric Flame Scallops also need to be hand fed. Normally putting food in a syringe and injecting the food in a path that will reach the Electric Flame Scallop will be enough to be successful. Since Electric Flame Scallops are so hard to feed, only expert aquarists or those who have had experience with the species should attempt to keep them.
