  • The Feather Starfish is an extremely interesting and unique starfish. Feather Starfish have a five long arms that comes off of their central body. Feather Starfish have fringes that come off of each arm that they can use for swimming. Feather Starfish will also use their arms to anchor themselves to rocks.

    Feather Starfish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Feather Starfish are very peaceful inverts and shouldn't bother any other fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes the Feather Starfish a great addition to reef tanks.

    Feather Starfish are extremely hard to care for species and should only be attempted by expert aquarists or people who have had experience with them before. Feather Starfish should not be kept with overly aggressive fish like triggers or puffers that will pick at the Feather Starfish.

    Feather Starfish get their nutrition from filtering the water column and from tiny meaty inverts they can find on the rock and in the substrate. You can try to supplement the diet of a Feather Starfish with tiny meaty foods like baby brine shrimp or plankton, or try to place them on top of small fresh pieces of seafood.
