  • Description
  • The Green Brittle Starfish is a very interesting and useful starfish. Green Brittle Starfish have a mostly all green body with some yellow highlights. Green Brittle Starfish typically have five long spiny arms coming out of its central disc.

Green Brittle Starfish reach a maximum adult size of around 10 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Green Brittle Starfish are semi-aggressive starfish, but shouldn't bother most inverts, fish and coral in your tank. This makes the Green Brittle Starfish a great addition to most reef tanks. Green Brittle Starfish might bother some smaller or sick fish and other smaller inverts though.

Green Brittle Starfish should not be kept with larger aggressive fish that like to pick at fleshy inverts like triggers and puffers. Green Brittle Starfish will thrive in tanks that have tons of live rock for them to hide in during the day and also to look for food on. Green Brittle Stars are scavengers and tend to spend most of their time going around the tank looks for leftover foods to eat. This makes the Green Brittle Starfish a great addition to your tank's clean up crew.

Green Brittle Starfish are omnivores and require a diet that is rich in both green and meaty foods. Most of their nutrition will come from what the Green Brittle Starfish can find in the tank, but if you'd like to supplement their diet simply feed the tank mysis and brine shrimp, high quality frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods.
