  • The Blue Steel Zoa is one of the most popular and stunning of all the zoanthid varieties. Blue Steel Zoanthids have a mostly yellow center with intense blues around their rims. Under actinic lighting, Blue Steel Zoanthids will glow and intense coloration.

    Blue Steel Zoas should be placed in the middle of the tank and require both moderate lighting and flow rates. After you have placed your Blue Steel Zoanthids, watch for any signs of stress. If you think your Blue Steel Zoas are stressed, simply move them a few inches until they look happier.

    Blue Steel Zoanthids are semi-aggressive corals and might sting their neighboring corals. Their sting is not strong, but can force some sensitive corals to retract. Blue Steel Zoanthids will also grow very fast and can overrun other corals. When placing your Blue Steel Zoas take these facts into account. Many reefers will try to cover entire sections of live rock with Blue Steel Zoanthids to make an underwater garden.

    Blue Steel Zoanthids get most of their nutrition through the water column and also through photosynthesis and shouldn't require too much additional food. If you would like to supplement your Blue Steel Zoanthids.
