  • Description
  • The Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish is a stunning blue and yellow dwarf angelfish from Mexico and the Caribbean. The Atlantic Pygmy Angel reaches a full size of around 3 inches, so can be kept in smaller aquariums as small as 40 gallons.

The head of the Atlantic Pygmy Angel is a brilliant yellowish-orange with the rest of its body being a stunning deep blue. Its fins are highlighted with an electric blue highlight as well. Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish should be kept as the only dwarf angelfish in your aquarium, since they can be territorial and aggressive to other dwarf angelfish. If your aquarium is large enough, you shouldn’t have too much problem keeping multiple dwarf angels together.

A reef aquarium is not always the best home for an Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish, since they have been known to nip and pick at hard and soft corals and clams. People have kept Atlantic Pygmy Angels successfully in reef aquariums, but it normally comes to the luck of the draw with the personality of each individual fish.

Being omnivores a diet rich in mysis shrimp, Spirulina and algae should be offered to an Atlantic Pygmy Angel. Also a lot of rock for it to hide in and graze off of will be very beneficial to your Atlantic Pygmy Angelfish.
