  • The Sargassum Anglerfish is a truly unique and amazing fish. The Sargassum Angler has various pieces coming off its body to help it more blend in to its rocky surroundings.

    The Sargassum Angler can get up to 8 inches as a fully grown adult, but can live in an aquarium as small as 8 inches, since it is not a very active swimmer. The Sargassum Angler is light tan to brown, and is a master of disguise. The Sargassum Angler lays in waiting until an unsuspecting victim comes to close, when the Sargassum will swallow its prey. Since Sargassum Anglers eat fish and inverts up to the size of their body, that should be taken into account when adding one to a reef tank.

    To get a Sargassum Angler more used to life in an aquarium, live feeder shrimp should be used to get them to start eating. Once happy, other non-live food can start to be used, such as fresh seafood. A lot of rock should be present in your tank to keep a Sargassum Angler happy and held it thrive.
