  • The Pearlscale Butterflyfish is a very beautiful and unique butterflyfish. Pearlscale Butterflyfish have a mostly white body with a black stripe over its eye and orange markings before their tails. Pearlscale Butterflyfish will also give off a pearl like lighting effect when under strong reef lights.

    Pearlscale Butterflyfish reach a maximum adult size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Pearlscale Butterflyfish are peaceful fish and will not bother other fish or inverts in your tank. They might be aggressive towards other Pearlscale Butterflyfish, and should be kept in large tanks and introduced at the same time if you are looking at keeping multiple Pearlscale Butterflyfish together.

    Pearlscale Butterflyfish are known to be natural coral eaters, so they are a terrible choice for reef tanks. In fish only tanks with peaceful to semi-aggressive tank mates, the Pearlscale Butterflyfish can be a truly beautiful addition. Pearlscale Butterflyfish should also be kept in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in since they are such a timid species.

    Pearlscale Butterflyfish are omnivores and need to be fed a diet that is both rich in meaty and green foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods, high quality frozen foods and mysis and brine shrimp will keep your Pearlscale Butterflyfish healthy and happy.
