  • Description
  • The Yellowstripe Neon Goby is a very colorful and somewhat rare goby. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies have a mostly all black body with a strong electric yellow horizontal stripe going along the top of their body. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies normally have a lighter colored belly as well.

Yellowstripe Neon Gobies reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 10 gallons in size. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies are known jumpers, and should only be kept in tanks with tight fitting lids with no holes large enough for them to jump through. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies are peaceful fish and shouldn't bother any fish, coral or inverts in your tank. This makes them a great fish for reef tanks.

Yellowstripe Neon Gobies should not be kept with larger overly aggressive fish, since they are not good at defending themselves. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies can be kept together or with other gobies in larger tanks, but in small tanks it's best to keep them singularly. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies have been known to pick parasites off of other fish, but it is not that common for them to do so in aquariums. Yellowstripe Neon Gobies should be kept in tanks with lots of live rock and sand for them to look for small inverts to eat between feedings.

Yellowstripe Neon Gobies are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will keep your Yellowstripe Neon Goby healthy and happy. You just need to make sure that the food is small enough to fit in the small mouth of a Yellowstripe Neon Goby.
