  • Description
  • The Panther Grouper is one of the most stunning of all the groupers. Panther Groupers have a mostly white body with black polka dots covering the majority of its body.

Panther Groupers reach a fully grown size of around 24 inches and need to be kept in aquariums that are at least 300 gallons in size. Panther Groupers also grow very fast, so take that into account when adding one to your system. Panther Groupers are aggressive fish and will eat other fish and inverts that can fit into its mouth. For this reason, it is advised to not keep Panther Groupers in reef tanks.

Panther Groupers do the best when being kept in large FOWLR tanks with other larger and aggressive fish like puffers, eels and triggers. If you have a large enough tank to accommodate a Panther Grouper, it can be a truly stunning showpiece fish to your tank.

Panther Groupers are carnivores and require a diet very rich in meaty foods. Foods such as large pieces of fresh fish, squid, clams and shrimp will help your Panther Grouper stay healthy and happy. Also live feeder shrimp and fish can be used to get your Panther Grouper eating in an aquarium.
