  • The Fu Manchu Lionfish is a stunning and very unique smaller lionfish. Fu Manchu Lionfish are mostly red with strong black markings and thick vertical white stripes. Fu Manchu Lionfish also get their name from the two feelers they have coming off of their chins.

    Fu Manchu Lionfish reach a maximum adult size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Fu Manchu Lionfish are semi-aggressive fish that shouldn't bother larger fish or coral in reef tanks. Fu Manchu Lionfish will try to eat any invert or fish that it can fit in its mouth though. For this reason you must proceed with caution if adding a Fu Manchu Lionfish to a reef tank.

    Fu Manchu Lionfish also have venomous spines, so you must be extremely careful when handling them and also when your hands are in an aquarium with one in the tank. Fu Manchu Lionfish can inflict a very painful sting to humans.

    Fu Manchu Lionfish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp and small chunks of fresh seafood will keep your Fu Manchu Lionfish healthy and thriving. Some Fu Manchu Lionfish will not eat prepared foods when first introduced. This can be overcome by feeding live feeder foods at first.
