Description
The Miles Lion is a very elegant and large lionfish. Miles Lionfish have a mostly red body with strong white vertical stripes. Miles Lions have elegant and long flowing fins that are as venomous as they are stunning. Miles Lionfish can also have a darker or lighter appearance based on their age and mood.

Miles Lionfish reach a maximum adult size of around 14 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons. Miles Lions are semi-aggressive fish and will only bother smaller fish and inverts, they should leave coral and larger fish alone. For this reason you need to proceed with caution if adding a Miles Lionfish to your reef tank.

Miles Lionfish can inflict an extremely sting if you get hit by one of their venomous fins. For most people simply applying very hot water to the affected area for a few minutes should be enough for the pain to go away. If you are sensitive to stings you might need to look for medical help. For this reason it is very important to be aware of where your Miles Lionfish is at all times when your hands are in the tank or handling one.

Miles Lions are carnivores and require a diet very rich in meaty foods. As juveniles foods like mysis and brine shrimp will be fine for them. As a Miles Lionfish ages, it will need more substantial food like small chunks of fresh seafood.
