  • The Threadfin Fish is a stunning and very large open water fish. Threadfin Fish have a mostly silver body with stunning yellow markings and spots. Threadfin Fish shimmer in the sun and your tank's lights.

    Threadfin Fish reach a maximum adult size of around 65 inches and need to be kept in only the largest tanks. Tanks that are 750 gallons are the bare minimum for this species. Threadfin Fish are semi-aggressive fish and will go after smaller fish and some inverts. This makes the Threadfin Fish a bad fish to add to reef tanks.

    Threadfin Fish are extremely strong swimmers and need to be kept in tanks with tons of open swimming room. Threadfin Fish provide a huge amount of movement and splash of color to the largest tanks. Threadfin Fish can be kept in small groups, but should really only be introduced at the same time. Because of their large size, only expert aquarists with giant tanks should attempt to keep Threadfin Fish.

    Threadfin Fish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Foods like mysis and brine shrimp as well as high quality meaty frozen foods will keep your Threadfin Fish healthy and happy when they are still juveniles. As your Threadfin Fish grows, it will need more substantial foods like chunks of fresh seafood.
