Description
The Dussumier Tang is one of the most sought after and revered of all the surgeonfish. Dussumier Tangs often look different depending on the mood and age. Dussumier Tangs can almost fully brown with blue highlights or be a light tan with intense orange and blue markings. Either way the Dussumier Tang is a stunning showpiece fish.

Dussumier Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 20 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 350 gallons in size. Dussumier Tangs are mostly peaceful fish and should leave other fish, coral and inverts alone in your tank. This makes the Dussumier Tang a great tang to add to a reef tank. Dussumier Tangs can be aggressive towards other tangs, especially other Acanthurus tangs. To help reduce aggression between tangs, try to introduce them at the same time and make sure that there is always algae present in the tank for them to graze on.

Dussumier Tangs need to be kept in tanks with tons of open horizontal swimming room. They also need lots of live rock to pick algae off of and to hide in if they feel threatened.

Dussumier Tangs are herbivores and require a diet that is rich in green foods. Foods like nori and marine algae sheets, high quality flake and pellet foods, high quality frozen foods and mysis and brine shrimp will make sure you Dussumier Tang stays healthy and thrives.
