  • Description
  • The White Tip Triggerfish is a large and rarely seen trigger in home aquariums. White Tip Triggerfish have a mostly brown body with a yellow tail and white fins and mouth. As juveniles White Tip Triggerfish are mostly white in color with a yellow top and strong horizontal black stripe.

White Tip Triggerfish reach a maximum adult size of around 12 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 125 gallons in size. White Tip Triggerfish are aggressive fish and should only be kept with large semi-aggressive to aggressive fish. White Tip Triggerfish will move rocks around your aquarium and also eat inverts, this makes them a bad choice to add to reef tanks.

If placed in a large fish only tank, White Tip Triggerfish can be a great addition to your system. White Tip Triggerfish do best in tanks with lots of live rock that they can hide in if they feel threatened. White Tip Triggerfish also have the ability to make audible grunts.

White Tip Triggerfish are carnivores and need to be fed a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, small chunks of fresh seafood like clams, scallops, shrimp and muscles will keep your White Tip Triggerfish healthy and happy. Foods with a hard shell will also keep their teeth ground down.
