  • Description
  • The Bluehead Fairy Wrasse is one of the most stunning of all the wrasses. Bluehead Fairy Wrasses have long slender red and blue bodies covered in a rainbow of colors. More often than not Bluehead Fairy Wrasses will vary greatly from one another in coloration.

Bluehead Fairy Wrasses reach a maximum size of around 6 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 75 gallons. Bluehead Fairy Wrasses are great fish to keep in reef tanks. They will not bother other fish, coral or inverts found in reef tanks. Bluehead Fairy Wrasses can be a little aggressive to other Cirrhilabrus wrasses though. In smaller tanks it’s best to introduce multiple wrasses at the same time.

Bluehead Fairy Wrasses do best in aquariums with lots of live rock for them to hide in and pick around at for various pods and other small meaty inverts. If you plan on keeping a Bluehead Fairy Wrasse, it’s important that your aquarium has a tight fitting lip, since Bluehead Fairy Wrasses are strong jumpers and will jump out of the aquarium if they are spooked.

Bluehead Fairy Wrasses are carnivores and need a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, high quality flake and pellet foods and high quality meaty frozen foods are ideal for Bluehead Fairy Wrasse. Adding supplements like selcon to your Bluehead Fairy Wrasses food will really help them grow and thrive in your tank.
