  • The Christmas Wrasse is one of the most color and beautiful of all the wrasses. Christmas Wrasses have a long and slender body which is mostly green with very strong horizontal red stripes. Christmas Wrasses also have a black spot on their dorsal fin.

    Christmas Wrasses reach a maximum mature size of around 5 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 50 gallons in size. Christmas Wrasses are very peaceful fish and can be kept with most fish, coral and inverts found in reef tanks. Christmas Wrasses also get along with their own species. Christmas Wrasses are good at getting rid of such pests as pyramidellid snails and fireworms.

    Christmas Wrasses do best in a tank with lots of live rock to hide if in spooked. Christmas Wrasses also require a tank with a decent depth sand bed to burrow in. Christmas Wrasses are strong jumpers and will try to jump out of tanks if scared. For this reason it is very important to have a tank with a tight fitting lid with no holes large enough for them to jump out of.

    Christmas Wrasses are carnivores and need a diet rich in meaty foods. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and high quality flake and pellet foods will make sure that your Christmas Wrasse stays healthy and thrives.
