  • Description
  • The Six Line Wrasse is one of the most beautiful and useful of all the wrasses. Adding a Six Line Wrasse to your tank can add a dash of color and also a lot of utility.

The Six Line Wrasse has a long and slender body that is blue and purple with strong orange horizontal lines running along the length of its body. Six Line Wrasses can reach a fully grown size of 4 inches and can be kept in tank that are 29 gallons and larger. Since Six Line Wrasses can jump when they are spooked, it’s best to keep them in an aquarium with a tight fitting top and with no holes big enough for them to jump though.

Six Line Wrasses are very active and will spend most of the day picking at your live rock for tiny inverts for them to snack on between feedings. Six Line Wrasses are great at controlling pests like bristleworms and pyramidellid snails. For the most part Six Line Wrasses will leave alone larger inverts making them good additions to reef tanks. They are also rather peaceful and should leave your other fish alone. Six Line Wrasses can be a little aggressive to other wrasses though.

Six Line Wrasses are carnivores and need a diet rich in meaty foods to be healthy. Foods such as mysis and brine shrimp, as well as high quality pellet and flake food make great choices for Six Line Wrasses. Giving them the right food and tank environment will make adding a Six Line Wrasse to your tank a great addition.
