  • Description
  • The Spider Decorator Crab is a very unique and interesting crab. The Spider Decorator Crab will take various things about your tank and use them to camouflage their bodies. You never really know what a Spider Decorator Crab will look like from day to day.

Spider Decorator Crabs reach a maximum adult size of around 4 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Spider Decorator Crabs are semi-aggressive crabs and shouldn't bother too many other inverts, fish or coral. Spider Decorator Crabs might bother some smaller inverts and can aggravate some corals when looking for things to put on their bodies. For this reason you should only add a Spider Decorator Crab to your reef tank with caution.

Spider Decorator Crabs need to be kept in tanks with lots of live rock for them to hide in during the daylight hours. At night the Spider Decorator Crab will go around the tank looking for small meaty pieces of leftover food to eat. This makes them a good addition to your clean up crew.

Spider Decorator Crabs are carnivores and need a diet that is high in meaty foods. Most of their nutrition will come from what they find in the tank, but you can supplement their diet with foods like mysis and brine shrimp, high quality meaty frozen foods and small pieces of fresh seafood.
