  • Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp are some of the most beautiful and useful of all the members of a cleanup crew. Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp have a stunning deep red body with a long central white stripe and long white antennae.

    Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp reach a maximum size of around 2 inches and can be kept in tanks that are 20 gallons or larger. Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp are peaceful members of a reef tank and will not bother, fish, coral or other inverts.

    In nature Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp setup cleaning stations where fish will come to get dead skin and parasites removed from their bodies by the shrimp. Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp are popular with aquarists to help fish cope with marine ich. All the Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp can do is remove the parasite from the fish’s body, but does nothing to remove marine ich from the tank.

    Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp tend to enjoy tanks that have lots of live rock for them to hide in as well. Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp are scavengers as well, and will eat any meaty pieces of leftover food they can find. Supplemental feedings of mysis and brine shrimp will help your Scarlet Cleaner Shrimp thrive in your tank.
