Shrimp are a great addition to reef tanks, since they are so interesting to watch and colorful. Some Shrimp even provide very useful services to your tank.

Some of the most popular Shrimp are the Cleaner and Peppermint Shrimp. Cleaner Shrimp will setup a cleaning station in your tank to remove visible parasites off of your fish. Peppermint Shrimp are known for eating aiptasia as well.

In tanks with fish like Triggers and large Wrasses, Shrimp will be taken out in short order, so should be avoided. If your tank does not have any Shrimp predators, then Shrimp should be easy to keep and great additions. First time Shrimp keepers might be freaked out the first time their Shrimp molts and a shell is left behind, thinking their Shrimp is dead, while in fact is hiding waiting for their shell to harden.
