  • Description
  • Umbrella Leathers are very tough and hardy coral, and make great coral for beginner reef keepers. They are mostly brown or green and can grow fairly large.

    Most Umbrella Leather coral will do well in just about any tank environment, but will thrive in a clean tank with moderate to high lighting and moderate flow. Umbrella Leathers can be placed anywhere in the tank, where their flow and lighting needs are met. If an Umbrella Leather doesn’t look happy after a few days, try moving it to a different part of the tank. Many Umbrella Leathers will also grow over and encrust rock.

    For the most part, Umbrella Leathers are considered peaceful corals, and shouldn’t hurt nearby coral. They can release a toxin if they are bothered too much though. It is pretty tough to kill a Umbrella Leather, so if you are just starting a reef tank, they are a pretty good coral to start off with.
