  • Description
  • The Blue Hornet Zoa is one of the most striking of all the Zoanthids. The polyps of the Blue Hornet Zoa are mostly a deep purplish blue with green borders. These corals just explode in the evening hours under blue lighting.

Blue Hornet Zoas are easy to keep corals and a great coral for the beginner reef keeper to attempt. Blue Hornet Zoas should be placed at the bottom to the middle of the aquarium. They do best under moderate lighting and flow. After you have placed your Blue Hornet Zoa in its desired location, watch for signs of stress. If you are seeing signs of stress, simply move the coral slightly until it appears happier over the course of a few days.

Blue Hornet Zoas can be aggressive to neighboring corals, and might deliver a mild sting, but in most cases they will simply overgrow other coral. Large colonies of Blue Hornet Zoas can form a very attractive garden over your rocks and substrate.

Blue Hornet Zoas get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis. If you feel that they need additional nutrition, simply add some baby brine shrimp or plankton to the tank in the evening hours.
