  • Description
  • The Marine Betta is a very unique and very elegantly beautiful fish. Marine Bettas have a mostly black body with striking white spots and yellow fins. Marine Bettas also have a strong eye spot on the rear of their body. When a Marine Betta goes head first into rockwork, that eye spot resembles the eye of a moray eel and keeps predators away.

Marine Bettas reach a maximum adult size of around 8 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 55 gallons in size. Marine Bettas are mostly peaceful fish that shouldn't bother most coral, fish and inverts in your tank. They can however eat smaller fish, for this reason you must proceed with caution if you add a Marine Betta to your reef tank.

Marine Bettas are somewhat shy fish that require lots of rock in the tank for them to hide in if they feel nervous or threatened. Once a Marine Betta gets accustomed to life in an aquarium, the Marine Betta can make an amazing showpiece fish.

Marine Bettas are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Lots of times Marine Bettas are slow to start eating in aquarium life. Using live feeder foods should get them over this hurdle. Once accustomed to eating in an aquarium, Marine Bettas can be fed foods like mysis and brine shrimp, small chunks of fresh seafoods and high quality meaty frozen foods.
