  • The Green Pipefish is a stunning and very elegant pipefish. Green Pipefish have a long and slender body that is mostly green.

    Green Pipefish reach a maximum adult size of around 10 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 29 gallons in size. Green Pipefish are very peaceful fish and shouldn't bother most coral, inverts or fish in your tank. Green Pipefish can be added to reef tanks, but should not be kept with overly aggressive fish or eaters. Also Green Pipefish are not the best swimmers and don't like tanks with very high flow rates.

    Green Pipefish will thrive in tanks with lots of live rock and sand, since for the most part Green Pipefish will spend most of their days swimming close to or on the sand and rocks looking for tiny inverts to eat. Green Pipefish can be kept together, but it is always a better idea to keep them in mated pairs. Green Pipefish will also get along very well with most seahorses.

    Green Pipefish are very hard to keep fish and should only be attempt by expert aquarists or those who have experience with the species. Green Pipefish are carnivores and require a diet rich in meaty foods. Green Pipefish prefer to eat live foods like pods, so having a refugium attached to your tank will help out greatly. Some Green Pipefish can be trained to eat prepared foods like baby brine shrimp, ova, cyclopeeze and mysis shrimp.
