  • Description
  • The Mustard Guttatus Tang is a stunning and not often seen surgeonfish. Mustard Guttatus Tangs have a mostly tan to black body with strong vertical white stripes and white spots.

Mustard Guttatus Tangs reach a maximum adult size of around 12 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 240 gallons in size. Mustard Guttatus Tangs will leave most other fish, coral and inverts alone. This makes the Mustard Guttatus Tang a great addition to a large reef tank.

Mustard Guttatus Tangs will be aggressive towards other tangs though, especially other Acanthurus tangs. To help reduce aggression you should introduce all your tangs at the same time and try to keep them in as large of a tank as possible. Having lots of algae available to your tangs either on live rock or by using algae sheets will help reduce aggression. Mustard Guttatus Tangs are also very strong swimmers, so they will need to be kept in tanks with lots of open swimming room.

Mustard Guttatus Tangs are herbivores and require a diet that is rich in green foods. Foods like Nori, marine algae sheets, spirulina, high quality flake and pellet foods as well as mysis and brine shrimp will keep your Mustard Guttatus Tang healthy and thriving.
