  • Description
  • The Pineapple Trigger is a huge and very colorful triggerfish. Pineapple Triggers have a mostly gray body with a pink face which even looks human like, hence its nickname. Pineapple Triggers are also covered in blue spots.

Pineapple Triggers reach a maximum adult size of around 24 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 300 gallons. Pineapple Triggers are aggressive fish and will attack smaller fish and inverts. For this reason and their massive size, Pineapple Triggers make poor choice for reef tanks.

Pineapple Triggers will thrive in large fish only tanks with other aggressive large fish. Pineapple Triggers will also move around your rock work to their liking. Pineapple Triggers are aggressive fish, but still get spooked and will often retreat to the rock work for shelter.

Pineapple Triggerfish are carnivores and require a diet that is very rich in meaty foods. When younger mysis and brine shrimp will be adequate for Pineapple Triggers, but as they age they will require larger chunks of fresh seafood like fish, shrimp, squid, clams and scallops.
