  • Description
  • The Flamboyant Cuttlefish is a stunning and super colorful invert. Flamboyant Cuttlefish have a multicolored body with stunning hues of pink and reds as well as yellows on their predominately tan to brown bodies.

Flamboyant Cuttlefish reach a maximum adult size of around 3 inches and need to be kept in tanks that are at least 50 gallons in size. Flamboyant Cuttlefish are semi-aggressive inverts, and really should be kept in species only tanks. This makes the Flamboyant Cuttlefish a terrible choice for reef aquariums.

Flamboyant Cuttlefish are extremely toxic and should only be handled by expert aquarists or those who have lots of experience with the species. The toxins of the Flamboyant Cuttlefish are on par with those found in the Blue Ring Octopus. Flamboyant Cuttlefish are found in depths of around 100 meters, so they prefer tanks that run a bit cooler than normal and also require areas where they can take shelter from bright tank lighting.

Flamboyant Cuttlefish are carnivores and require a diet that is rich in meaty foods. Live foods are best used when first acclimating Flamboyant Cuttlefish to live in an aquarium. Over time frozen meaty foods can be offered to your Flamboyant Cuttlefish until you find food it likes.
